The job:
We're on the hunt for a superstar Retention Marketing Specialist with proven experience running Email + SMS in the DTC space. Our unicorn has an eye for design, attention to detail and the ability to think strategically. We are specifically looking to develop in-house leaders to join our growing team.

Our Retention Marketing Specialist will be responsible for building and optimizing all aspects of Email / SMS Marketing flows and campaigns for an array of eCommerce clients, from strategy to execution.


If you’re our ideal candidate

You know Klaviyo inside out and have a clear understanding of eCommerce KPIs, marketing principles and email deliverability. You don’t need to be a professional copywriter (you’ll work with one) and don’t need to have Photoshop knowledge, but you do have an eye for design and you can write copy on the fly, envisioning a brand’s aesthetic. If you can’t design a beautiful email that converts within the Klaviyo builder, you may not be our perfect fit!


What you’ll (be excited to) do:

  • Develop effective strategies for email and sms to maximize revenue, customer retention and LTV - flow mapping and logic, email campaign calendars, working closely with our clients and team.

  • Manage  email/sms campaigns and flows from development to execution for an array of eCommerce client accounts.

  • Design beautiful emails that convert within the Klaviyo builder and leverage graphic elements.
    👉 Design doesn’t mean just Photoshop! You’ll surely be able to use graphic elements created by a designer, but it will be up to you to come up with an original email layout within the Klaviyo builder that can elevate the content and copy visually. That means playing around with blocks, sections, GIFs, colored backgrounds, styles, font spacing, grids and assessing if a design is up to standard. We do not code our emails in HTML and do not design them fully in Photoshop.

  • Work closely with our team (Strategist, Copywriter and Ops Manager) to make sure deliverables are executed in a timely and effective way.

  • Audit accounts and develop a clear roadmap for success.

  • Establish segment strategies based on customer lifecycle segmentation, predictive analytics and custom properties. 

  • Continuously measure, split-test and optimize to ensure we are getting the best return possible out of every send.

  • Develop acquisition strategies using signup forms and conversational popups for both Email and SMS.

  • Manage segments and list cleaning to maximize deliverability and stay in compliance with CAN-Spam laws. 

  • Ensure accurate tracking and account setup - this includes web tracking (with web dev support and/or client’s internal team), UTMs, Preference Pages, Data Feeds, Settings.

  • Proof and QA campaigns to ensure 100% error-free execution.

  • Research competitor programs looking for insights around targeting, offers, and overall strategy.

  • Analyze and track data to maximize deliverability, performance, subscriber acquisition, and growth goals.

To be considered you must check these boxes:

  • Able to work within US time zones. 

  • Minimum 2-3 years of Email Marketing experience (Advanced Klaviyo knowledge / experience is a must).

  • SMS Marketing experience (Postscript or other).

  • Experience with DTC businesses and understanding of advertising principles are a must.

  • Agency experience preferred, but not required.

  • High levels of integrity, autonomy and self-motivation.

  • Demonstrate a high attention to detail and mention “SAVAGE EMAIL MARKETING SUPERSTAR” in your application (questionnaire below) if you wish to be considered.

  • Proven track record and ability to deliver results with Email campaigns and flows, managing 20,000 - 200,000 subscriber lists.

  • No need to be a professional copywriter, but you can still write copy on the fly. 

  • You have an eye for design and know the Klaviyo builder inside out.

  • Enthusiastic, sociable and articulate for client and team facing communication.

  • You’re great at multitasking and stay cool under tight deadlines.

  • You have a desire to succeed with our clients and deliver quality work that can proudly represent them.

  • Strong writing and communication skills. 

  • You have a thing for strategic thinking and looking at the big picture.

  • You’re accountable and able to work independently, but you’re ultimately a team player.

  • You’re willing to follow internal systems and processes and improve them over time.
